It seems , the Swedan based Volvo is looking into options of setting up an offshore body building unit near Chittoor.Presently, Volvo has outsourced the job of body Building to the Bangalore based company, Jaico Automobiles (Azad Group).Recently Volvo Bus Corporation and Jaico Automobiles (Azad Group) have come to an aggrement to start a joint company in India for the production of bus bodies based on Volvo Buses’ body technology.Now they are in the process of finding the location to setup the plant.As part of it they are discussing with various Indian Governments.
In this scenario the Andhra Pradesh Minister for Transport and Cooperation Kanna Lakshminarayana in a press meet said they have invited Volvo to setup the plant near Chittoor.APSRTC and KSRTC being two big clients for this Sweden company,it might be focussing to setup plant in one of this states.I feel , Volvo presenlty having its plant midway to Kolar and Bangalore, should keenly look towards Chittoor due to its dual advantage of Geographical proximity to Chennai,Bangalore and availability of labour at low cost here.

Chittor - Tirupathi Road , near NTR Jalasayam should be ideal for this due to the availability of water resoucre from the Dam.

IS this true that volvo is goin to place a plant here
We dont need Volvo. This will take up all water in near by area, where Chittoor is in Rayalaseema and no water. It will become worst for the farmers, residents and all.
But it will increase the revenue for the district.
It will improve the potential of the town and it's nice to see volov's plying in chittoor town also.
More over the name and fame of the town will rapidly increase and which leads to generate more gains to the govt.
The ideal place in my view would be Chennai - Bangalore highway.As it is close to Chennai and Vellore.As Chennai has developed as a major Automobile hub having a factory closer will be a more feasible in terms of economics for the company.
It will be great if volvo comes here.I am a great fan of body building.Cannot wait for it.
